Physical Therapy – Manual Therapy

Physiotherapists who specialize in the treatment of the spine are the key-stones for the individual analysis and support of back-patients. A team of internationally trained physical- and manual-therapists, chiropractors, osteopaths and masseurs complete the physical department “van den Bruele” – an autonomous branch of the rehabilitation department.

Individual treatment for individual diseases

1. Acute lumbago

Acute lumbago is a state of blockade in the spine that can occur for a variety of reasons. The affected patient can hardly move and relies on relieving posture. We combat this condition with aimed mobilising techniques based on manual therapy and osteopathy. A customized massage helps to relax musculature and effectuate fast pain relieve.

2. The slipped disc

We speak of a slipped disc when a part of the disc slips or shifts out of place due to instability. This incident can be very painful if the slipped portion compresses the nerve. Radiation into the legs, crippling or other painful sensations can occur. We can centralize the disc with the help of a variety of mobilising techniques. As a matter of course we are trained in treatment-concepts such as Brügger, Maitland, McKenzie, Cyriax, Evjenth and P.N.F.

3. Blockades

Blockades of joints in the neck-area, between the vertebrae, in the transition between vertebrae and ribs and in the ISG-joint can occur for a great number of reasons. Only a well trained therapist can safely dissolve - even long lasting - blockades and achieve a better posture and mobility.

4. Chronic back-pain, problems with posture and mobility

Well applied mobilization-therapy and aimed massage can be very supportive for patients with chronic back-pain. Goal of the therapy is the memorization of individually balanced exercises and behaviour that can be absorbed into the every day life.
