On her second visit to the Alpha Klinik, Marwa got her leg prosthesis re-fitted and a full medical check up.
In her growing up years, Marwa would need to come back several times to have the prosthesis adjusted or renewed.
Marwa had lost her right leg on April 21 of 2003 through a bomb attack in Iraq. Dr. Toft from the Alpha Klinik and Dr. Jürgen Todenhöfer from Burda publishing house wanted to give Marwa a chance to walk again, both of them made it possible for her to have top medical care in Alpha Klinik.
As Marwa came to the Alpha Klinik for the first time, her amputed leg still had splinters which resulted in inflammation and made it painful to walk on a prosthetic leg. After a complicated operative intervention, Marwa’s condition improved gradually so that the prosthesis finally could be tried on and fitted and she went back to Iraq pain free and walking. After a year Marwa visited us again for a new prosthesis and a full check up. She got the thumbs up for her health and her astounding courage to face life with a big smile.
Marwa has been attending school in Iraq since then and works diligently to become a doctor. Inspired by Dr Toft she would like to become a doctor too and help others in need of medical treatment. We all wish Marwa a peaceful and fulfilling life in Iraq.
