A simple solution to knee arthritis |
AT LAST... A SIMPLE, EFFECTIVE SOLUTION TO KNEE ARTHRITIS
'You don't have to put up with knee arthritis. We believe it can be eased by the body's own potential to replace lost cartilage'
Most of us don't even think twice about taking the dog for a walk, nipping to the shops, or running for a bus. But if you have knee arthritis, getting from A to B can be tricky. The good news is, you don't have to put up with it. Doctors at the Alpha-Klinik believe this condition can be helped by harnessing the body's own healing power - the power to regenerate its own tissue and create new cartilage, replacing that lost through this degenerative disease. Abrasion arthroplasty is Alpha-Klinik's revolutionary minimally-invasive treatment - it's their solution to having a radical knee replacement, to help give people with knee arthritis a new lease of life. |

How does it work?
 | | Knee with cartilage damage |
Arthritis is characterised by the excessive and premature wear-and-tear of the cartilage that cushions the surfaces of the bone in a joint. When this starts to break down, small particles come away and rub in the joint. This friction wears more and more cartilage away and, in time, the bone is left unprotected. Abrasion arthroplasty can help knee arthritis as it stimulates the body into making a new layer of cartilage to replace the one worn away. It is a minimally-invasive keyhole technique, and the process is usually completed within around three month of treatment. Consultants at the Alpha-Klinik estimate that it could help people with knee arthritis stay active for up to 15 years longer. |
|
Who can benefit?Osteoarthritis doesn't only affect people in their 70s and 80s. An increasing number of people in their 30s and 40s experience symptoms, especially with today's hectic lifestyles. Total knee replacements - the usual solution - can severely restrict mobility, but abrasion arthroplasty, can help you get back to doing everyday activities such as cycling, swimming or gold, whatever your age. |
|
How effective is it?
 | | Regrowth of cartilage after abrasion arthroplasty |
Consultants at Alpha-Klinik believe abrasion arthroplasty is a better alternative to knee joint replacement, especially for younger patients. The clinic's Dr Toft has performed this technique successfully on over 4,000 patients since 1982. |
