A Knee Patient's Success Story |
Rob Lindeman, an avid runner, recounts the encouraging story of his surgery at Alpha Klinik and subsequent full recovery.
 | | Rob running his favourite marathon, the Jungfrau in Switzerland, in 1998 - before he injured his knee. |
For over 20 years now, I have been an avid runner (4 to 5 times a week) - preferably through nature and, in recent years, with my dog Tosca - as a way to prepare myself for the many marathons in which I have participated.
In early 2003 I suffered a bad fall while running and hurt my knee. Initially the pain went away quickly, but it returned after a while and eventually forced me to give up running.
At the end of September last year I went to see many specialists, all of whom advised me to stop running all together. As you know, I was operated on at the beginning of October in the Alpha Klinik, and during the operation it was established that the cartilage in my knee was severally damaged. Generally speaking, this kind of damage would have meant the very definite end of my career as a runner.
However, 5 months after my operation, I can gladly conclude that all is well! I have started running again with Tosca, and I hope to run the most beautiful and difficult of all marathons in Europe - the Jungfrau in Switzerland - this coming September. |
