Loose bodies |
|
As in any other joint, loose bodies can also appear in the hip joint. Because of the limited joint space such loose bodies can be most unpleasant for the patient. For similar reasons they can cause severe damage to the articular cartilage, predisposing the joint to osteoarthritis. To prepare for surgery it is important to perform a standard X-ray as well as an MRI, which in most cases will enable the surgeon to detect any loose bodies. |
