30. Mrs. D.S.: A 39-year-old police officer who had suffered from knee pain for almost 20 years and was now only able to do clerical work.
The 39-year-old police officer Mrs. S had suffered from pain in her left knee for almost 20 years and professionally was unable to do anything except for clerical work. There was no solution to her problem in sight. She underwent an abrasion plus osteotomy which, as these images show, was very successful. The operation itself took place in October 2002. These images are from the follow-up surgery in April 2003. Although Mrs. S is not that happy with the "aesthetics" of her knee joint, which was adjusted slightly in the outward direction ("bow leg") for health reasons, she is very satisfied with the fact that she no longer has any discomfort, which mattered more to her at the end of the day.
