The 54-year-old painter Mr. J had suffered a football injury 11 years ago that had never healed completely. Since then, he had given up playing sports and also felt very restricted in the pursuit of his profession. He was not keen on the only treatment option he was given - a complete knee replacement. Due to grade 4 cartilage damage and bare bone on the inner and outer sides, the patient was not an ideal candidate for this procedure. Mr. J underwent an abrasion plus osteotomy in July 2003. In November 2003, the follow-up operation showed the excellent state of all the repaired surfaces. The x-rays also showed an amazing improvement. Mr. J. no longer has any pain and can carry out his physically challenging job without any restrictions whatsoever.
