21. Mrs. I.M.: A retired 74-year-old who suffered from constant pain in her left knee and could hardly walk anymore.
The retired 74-year-old Mrs. M suffered from constant pain in her left knee joint and basically could hardly walk anymore. Except for a replacement knee joint, which she did not want, Mrs. M had not been advised of any other treatment possibility. An abrasion with osteotomy was performed in November 2002. During the follow-up operation in September 2003, the following images were taken. They clearly show the kind of successful results that can be achieved even with a patient at her age. Mrs. M is now pain-free, can even go for longer walks and is fully able to run her household without restrictions.
