13. Mr. M.F.: A 39-year-old dentist from Italy who had suffered a tibial fracture in 1982 that caused a bow leg misalignment and subsequently arthritis.
The 39-year-old Italian dentist Mr. F had suffered a tibial (shin bone) fracture in 1982 that required nailing. This caused a bow leg misalignment, which in turn resulted in arthritis of the inner side of the knee. Sports of any kind were out of the question, and he wasn't even able to practice his profession without discomfort. An axial realignment was performed in July 2002. The following images were taken during the repeat operation in August 2003 and clearly show the outstanding cartilage regrowth, as well as the expanded inner medial joint line. Mr. F can now pursue his profession as a dentist without any problems and has also started jogging again.
