10. Mrs. P.S.: A retired 71-year-old who had suffered from pain in her left knee for over 10 years.
The retired 71-year-old Mrs. S had suffered from pain in her left knee for over 10 years. She was constantly taking painkillers, but they weren't helping anymore, and she was even in pain when she wasn't moving and at night. Apart from a knee prosthesis, Mrs. S was told that there wasn't much hope of help. She decided to have an abrasion plus osteotomy. The operation was performed in April 2003. During the repeat operation with hardware removal in September 2003, the following arthroscopic and x-ray images were taken. They show the regrowth of the cartilage, as well as the reappearance of the inner medial joint line. The patient is now pain-free and very satisfied with the results of the operation.
