Members of the IITS voted Dr. Thomas Hoogland their new president at this years meeting in Chicago, Illinois. Hoogland superseded his predecessor, Dr. David Casper from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and was also voted host of the next IITS meeting, that will take place in Munich, Germany.
The International Intradiscal Therapy Society is a non-profit, ACCME accredited, medical educational society dedicated to the research and treatment of intervertebral disc disorders.
One of the highlights of next years meeting will be the planned debate: Fusion (Prof. Harms, Germany) vs. Disc-prosthesis (Dr. Etter, Switzerland). Other focal points will be "The return of the enzyme" (Chymopapain) and endoscopic and minimalinvasive spine-surgery. Two surgery-workshops - disc-prosthetic surgery and minimal-invasive endoscopic surgery - are intended.
The 17th annual meeting of the IITS will take place 19 - 22 May 2004 at the Arabella Sheraton Bogenhausen in Munich, Germany.
