Why go to Munich for a disc prosthesis operation?

Why go to Munich for a disc prosthesis operation?

Five important reasons to go to Munich

1. In the specialized Alpha Klinik you get a detailed diagnosis of your back problems.
The Alpha Klinik is a specialized hospital for the treatment of the spine. A diagnosis from our Doctors will be established in dialogue with all different specialized departments. Research methods that can be applied during consultation hours are:
•  MRI scan: Most up to date equipment adjusted especially for the spine.
•  X-ray: with special extension flexion recording options to trace down instabilities, examination by specialized laboratory assistants.
•  Neurological-orthopaedic research carried out by the surgeon and neurologist.
•  Blood research (for rheumatoid arthritis, gout, Lyme's disease aimed and other infection processes)
•  Vascular examination
•  Spine Motion analysis (EMG surface): mobility and muscle response test
•  MedX: muscle strength measurement of the back- and neck-musculature
•  Discography: a radiological test with the injection of a contrast fluid demonstrating both disc herniations and disc degeneration.

2. Within just one day, you’ll get a precise diagnosis and a suggested treatment option.
All research methods and all necessary specialists are present at our clinic. All necessary examinations can be carried out directly.

3. Large experience of the surgeon, Drs. Zeegers, required for a successful disc prosthesis operation. Expert knowledge of the surgeon is needed for a successful disc prosthesis operation. An a-traumatic approach and accurate placement of the disc prosthesis via the front side of the spine requires large experience. Research also showed that well positioning of the prosthesis is essential for a successful outcome. During more than 17 years Drs. Zeegers has gained a lot of experience as a disc prosthesis specialist. He is one of the pioneers in this field – until today he has placed over 1700 artificial disc prostheses.

4. A success rate of over 85% for the disc prosthesis type Active L.
Drs. Zeegers uses the Active L disc prosthesis for the back and the Mobi C prosthesis for the neck, which have a success percentage of over 85%. The current design of the Active L guarantees optimal protection of the polyethylene core. The anatomical adapted shape of the Active L implant assures a symmetrical positioning in the lumbar spine. This guarantees that the plastic core is not overloaded. The constant pressure between the vertebrae reassures that the prosthesis remains stable. Plastic core is not overloaded by the nice central positioning. Collapsing or "hardware" failures had not occurred so far. The shape of the prosthesis and the bioactive rough surface of the metal plates guarantee extra primary fixation.

5. Specialized training centre for a fast and optimal recovery.
The Alpha Klinik also contains a specialized training centre for patients with neck and back problems. In this highly specialized centre physiotherapists and sports scientists offer a wide range of conservative, non invasive spine therapies, such as gyrotronic, joint manipulation, manual therapy, physiotherapy, personal training and MedX equipment for isolated muscle strengthening.
